Opportunities to Train in Education
Spend a Year in Malawi
Is God calling you to train in education? You can spend a year in Malawi completing:
• Discipleship Training School (DTS)
• Foundations in Education
• Practical educational outreach opportunities
This pathway provides both spiritual formation and hands-on experience working with children, schools, and communities.
Discipleship Training School - Education Track
Within our DTS programmes we offer an education track.
If you believe God may be calling you to work with children, schools, or youth ministries, this track allows you to:
- Grow in your relationship with God
- Explore your calling in education
- Gain practical ministry exposure
The education track is also the recommended pathway into the Foundations in Education second-level school.

Foundations in Education
After completing DTS, students can join the Foundations in Education (FIE) programme.
This three-month course:
• Provides a Biblical worldview of education
• Helps students understand God’s heart for children
• Explores principles of Christian education
• Prepares participants to serve in schools and youth ministries
Foundations in Education is also a required unit for students pursuing an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Education through the University of the Nations.
The programme is highly interactive and practical.
Foundations in Education Outreach
Students who complete Foundations in Education may participate in an outreach within two years of completing the course.
YWAM Blantyre regularly hosts FIE outreach teams who come to Malawi to serve in schools, communities, and youth programmes.
We would love to welcome you to the Warm Heart of Africa.
Thanthwe 2 Christian Mission Public School
In 2018 we opened Thanthwe 2 Christian Primary School in Chiwaya Village, approximately 3.5 km from the YWAM base.
The school serves a community of more than 3000 people and currently has over 600 students enrolled.
This is a YWAM and Government partnership:
- The school is built on YWAM land
- The government provides teachers
- YWAM supports the school through leadership, ministry programmes, and training initiatives
Through this partnership we aim to create an environment where students grow academically, spiritually, and socially.
YWAM 2 Seeds School
Another Christian school operates in a rural community 15 km in the hills surrounding Blantyre.
This school was pioneered by a team from YWAM 2 Seeds and continues to grow as a developing primary school.
Currently the school runs:
• Reception class
• Year 1
The vision is to expand gradually into a full primary school serving the surrounding rural communities.

Teacher Training Programmes
We run several professional development programmes for teachers to help them develop a Biblical worldview of education.
These programmes help educators see teaching as a vocation and calling. Work is worship.
Our initiatives include:
- Educating for Life programmes
- Leadership development for teachers
- Literacy training
- Educational leadership courses
By combining Biblical truth with practical teaching methods, we aim to see schools transformed into environments where young people encounter God and reach their full potential.
Digital Curriculum Development
We are currently developing a digital learning app that provides teachers and students with access to the Malawi national curriculum.
Many schools lack access to quality learning materials. This gap in education is a justice issue that deeply concerns us.
The platform will include:
- The full Malawi curriculum
- Content developed by Malawian teachers
- Professional development resources for educators
If you have digital development skills, we would love your help.
Come and help facilitate learning across Malawi.
