Starting 8th April 2024

Do you want to meet with the God of the Bible in a whole new way? Do you want to grow in your understanding of God’s Word and learn how to share His life-transforming truth with others? IF YES, Then the DBS is for you!

Meet the God of the Bible

The Discipleship Bible School (DBS) is an exciting 5 month adventure in God’s Word that will change the way you read, study and teach the Bible forever. During your DBS, the Bible will come alive to you in a way you never thought possible. You will be able to read all the 66 books, understand the historical context of each of these books, the chronology of bible events and also recognize the different genres of literature like narratives, wisdom literature, prophecy, gospels etc. You will discover how the stories of the Bible are not just random and disconnected but are part of one great story of the Bible that fits together to reveal the amazing God who inspired it.

A community seeking to Know God More

The DBS invites you to be part of community as you explore the Bible together – a safe place where you can ask questions, share your own ideas, be challenged and grow together. This community includes your fellow students, passionate DBS staff and diverse lecturers from different nations IMG-20190315-WA0003who will come to impart their knowledge and love of the Scriptures to you. From all that you learn during the first three months of DBS you will then put into practice as you witness the power of the Word of God to transform individuals, communities and even nations during outreach phase. You will go out as part of team to communicate what you have learnt and equip others to study God’s Word and meet the God of the Bible for themselves.

The DBS Programme: Lecture and Outreach

The DBS Lecture Phase is 12 weeks and the optional Outreach Phase is 8 weeks.

The DBS at YWAM Blantyre will include an outreach phase which we are really excited about! The vision for outreach is to use the knowledge we have gained during lecture phase and put it into practice in communities across Malawi. Following God’s guidance, we will go to different parts of the country, going from house to house, distributing portions of Scripture, helping to fulfill our End Bible Poverty vision. We will invite recipients of Bibles to take part in community Bible studies we will pioneer in their local area.

Banner-Blantyre

We are believing that these small groups of Bible study will become catalysts for change and transformation in the community, discipleship of the nation, renewal in the church and a place for those who don’t know God to find Him. Alongside community Bible studies we will also teach ‘God’s Story’ – an overview of the whole Bible in 30 minutes in churches.

University of the Nations Accredited Course

Bible1The DBS is a UofN Accredited Biblical Studies course, and it follows in the tradition of the YWAM School of Biblical Studies with a focus on the Inductive method of Bible study. But DBS is also a totally new and unique YWAM Bible school with a particular emphasis on learning orally, studying in community and seeing the big story of the Bible. The DBS is one of the Core Course modules required for a University of the Nations Degree in the College of Christian Ministries.

By the end of your DBS:

1. You will have read, together with your small group, the whole Bible chronologically and discussed many topics throughout.

2. You will have learned how to lead a small bible study group using the inductive Bible study      method.

3. You will have traced through the Bible and identified: (a) main biblical events, (b) God’s character and nature, and (c) God’s Redemptive Plan and have made a creative timeline with these elements on them.

4. You will have presented a Bible Overview Presentation on the story of the Bible to the DBS class.

5. You will have reached out to communities across the nation by distributing scripture home-to-home, launching community Bible studies and teaching in churches.

Students who successfully complete DBS will receive a certificate and 20 UofN credits.
