Blantyre is in the south of Malawi 300 kilometres south of Lilongwe the capital. Blantyre is known as the economic capital. Malawians pride themselves as being a people who are warm and friendly. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world and is also one of the most densely populated. There are over half a million AIDS orphans in Malawi, who overwhelm the current community care. Blantyre is also strategic in its location; it has very quick access into Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia. We plan to launch short term missions in Malawi and the surrounding countries, similar to the crisis relief work we have done in the past in Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
YWAM Blantyre is in Chigumula Market, Limbe, an Eastern suburb of Blantyre. The base can either be reached by minibus or car. Here is a map of where the base is.

By Minibus – catch a minibus to the main Limbe minibus terminal which is situated next to the Limbe market. From there ask for a minibus to Chigumula Market this is just a short 2 minute walk from the base and if you ring us from there one of the team will come to collect you, or ask at the bus stop and people will point you back to YWAM blantyre.
If you are not a Malawian, you will be required to pay for entry permits and visas in addition to your DTS fees. Please budget an additional $200 to cover this.
